Mr Phua has always been a caring and concern teacher for many of his students including myself. He will always put his students before himself and sacrifice his precious time just to make sure each student gets the best they can achieve. Ever since I joined Mr Phua's class, he has always been committed in trying to bring out the best grades that

I can obtain and through countless of hours of staying back after class due to failed test papers, and constant nagging on common mistakes. My grades for math have definitely approved and I could not have achieved such improvement without the help of Mr Phua. Mr Phua will also constantly bring upon jokes in class to make the class more lively to remove huge the amounts of stress that we have. He also treats us with goodies and congratulate us by distributing Starbucks cards to those who have achieved their desired grades just to motivate us in repeating the same success for future rewards.

I would personally want to thank mr phua for making my two years in RMSS a fruitful and enjoyable experience. He has definitely changed my perspective of math as a subject and is definitely one of the best teachers I know so far in my whole student life.
Mr Phua is a wonderful teacher, someone whom many, including myself, hold in high regard, and I mean it big time. He's not your typical good teacher that makes sure you work hard, give you lots of homework etc. etc. He's a teacher that works hard WITH you, goes through the process WITH you. When I first got Mr Phua as my teacher, I was truly surprised. I never knew a teacher like him existed. Someone so dedicated as to stay with you till the unearthly hours to make sure you realise your mistakes and have a better understanding of the topic.
Every time I have a topic I'm not sure about, Mr Phua would without fail, get me to come to the centre and do practices with his help. Most of the time, he would just know exactly what I'm confused about based on the questions I ask him, and teach me the basis of that part clearly, till I understand. To him, it is imperative that he helps us till we score good grades, or at least improve from our precious grades. Besides being an extremely dedicated teacher, he is also very encouraging, and is always there to give moral support. For example, he would make sure we are not too exhausted/have sufficient time to study for our other subjects. Furthermore, he sometimes help us relax by sharing with us funny stories and playing what he likes to call, "inspirational music".

All in all, his passion transcends all boundaries and he is willing to do (almost) anything to help you score your desired grade. Wherever you are right now, be it a B3 or an F9 (like how I started out and am passing now), fred not, for there is light at the end of the tunnel with Mr Phua.
P.s. I really enjoy his funky and ever so cool fashion sense. Seriously, a teacher that is hipster + dedicated, what's not to like?
A solid foundation. That's what Raymond has rebuilt in me.
Math has always been my weakest link and my foundation was in scraps. There was always a perpetual "F" grade on my paper, which stood stoic despite my many efforts. I found myself hopping to and fro many tuition centres in bid to find the 'perfect' math tutor.
However, my problems ceased once I started attending lessons at RMSS.
Through countless presentations, practice drills and of course, Raymond's guidance, I improved. My scrappy foundation had been connected as he cleared many misconceptions and introduced new insights, which were applicable in solving challenging questions. Raymond also instilled a sense of discipline and accountability in all his students. His passion to teach has inspired me to be more driven and motivated to do my best.
Gradually, my Fs turned into As and my confidence, soared.
To sum it all up, Raymond has managed to make an almost impossible feat (like doing well in math) possible and I am more than grateful. ☺
I've always been rather lazy when it comes to doing work of any kind. As a result, I found myself falling behind in school with a terrible math score. In retrospect, this may actually have been a blessing as it led to my joining RMSS. I quickly discovered that being lazy in Raymond's class was a big mistake and started working harder, and saw a sharp improvement in my grades in a miraculously short time. Apart from his effectiveness as a tutor, he also cares deeply about the welfare of all his students and takes time to impart his wisdom and knowledge from past experiences in all of us. He is unreserved when it comes to his desire for his students to succeed, and although he comes down hard on them in the classroom, he is able to see things from their perspective and knows when to give us a break. All in all, I'd say he's doing a pretty good job of not only boosting our grades but also being a positive influence.
I have been following Raymond since primary 5 and to some people it may seem like a long time. But to me, it was one hell of a memorable journey. In my primary school days, I was terrified of Raymond. Especially in those times when we were called up to present our math workings( it felt like I thrown into a cage of sharks). Raymond was demanding in the way he wanted us to present our work. In terms of the way we stand, how we use the pointer and how we explain each step of our workings. What I got out of all these presentation was confidence. Having Confidence in my work and in giving presentations. At school I could see myself being different from other students when teachers ask me to present my work. I could give clear explanations of my work and showed no stage fright esp at just primary 6. Raymond has many subtle ways of teaching students and I always put my full trust in him. Being under his care for so many years, not only have I continued to ace my math subjects but also learnt many life skills. Raymond motivates me to do well in my studies and often reminds us to be thankful for what we have. He makes lessons interesting and goes straight to the point about the important tips needed for the exam. Honestly, I would not have attainted so much.
I joined Raymond when I was secondary 2, and I never regretted joining. For a person who really hates going for tuition, it came as a shock to my parents and myself that I looked forward to going for tuition. I think what's special about Raymond is that he injects entertainment even whilst learning boring concepts. He makes them sound so easy, that you are inclined to believe that they are pretty easy too! Raymond's teaching is extremely efficient - he breaks down concepts into their simplest forms, and teaches you just what you need to know without the extra unnecessary embellishments. I will never forget his lesson on vectors - it was extremely concise and clear, and covered what my school took more than a month to teach in 2 lessons. Vectors has become my favourite topic, even though my peers in school hate it with a vengeance :P I will forever be grateful to Raymond, he is really an excellent teacher. Together with all the friendships I have forged in his classes, RMSS will remain a fond memory of my schooling life.
Thank you Mr Victor Chew for being a wonderful science teacher. At first, I did not enjoy learning science. However you taught me science in a fun and educational way, thus changing my perspective on the subject, and giving me more confidence. Now, I enjoy learning science. After memorizing the standard answers you taught us before PSLE, I am able to tackle the tricky section B questions with ease. Your cheerful and positive attitude and funny jokes had brightened up the classroom. I hope you will be successful in your future endeavours.
Thank you Mr Victor Chew for your dedication in helping my girl rebuild her confidence in Math. Your patience to help with the math questions at your private time is very much appreciated. The extra classes and extra hours put in by you is now paid off. Today, PSLE math day, my girl is able to perform with confidence. Thank you so much !
Dear David, I must sincerely thank you for your guidance and effort in helping Ryan to succeed in his Math. David is definitely a dedicated and passionate teacher. After Ryan started attending David's lesson since June this year, I have seen tremendous self-motivation by Ryan. Keep it up, David, I am sure many children will succeed under your care!
Amir Hyder enjoys his Maths and Science lessons at RMSS under Mr David Lim. The lessons are enjoyable and there is a visible improvement in his confidence for both subjects. Thanks Mr Lim!
Tuition works? Yes? This is only true if you find a right tuition centre and a GOOD tutor. I was totally lost through the two years of learning Additional Mathematics, not that I do not understand the topics but it just failed me, this is really sad to me as I really put in a lot of effort, but results do not reflects. I joined Raymond tuition centre in July 2015,it is really late, as it is just a few months away from O Level but luckily I found a really nice and patient math teacher, Mr Sean Yeo, his teaching is very unique and he never fails to capture my attention. I always feel that i have learned something at the end of the day and in turn, boost my confidence when doing Additional Mathematics. It is also him that totally changed my opinion toward tuition, i used to think that tuition are not as strict as in school and the tutors do not care about discipline, then YOU ARE WRONG, in Mr Yeo's class, he is a very strict teacher when it comes to teaching although he jokes with students but it is clear that you have to be serious when it comes to work. I really want to thank him, he always ensure that I understand the things he taught and encourages me to stay back after lessons to watch videos so that i can catch up with the others, it is really tiring sometimes but it is worthwhile and it is for my own good. During Preliminary Examinations i achieve a C5 for my Additional Mathematics, this is a huge improvement within a month's time as compare to my previous result,E8 and i believe through Mr Yeo's help i can definitely score higher for my O levels. For his effort and faith in believing that I can do it. Thank You Mr Yeo!
When I joined Mr Yeo's class in secondary 1, I didn't really know what to expect. Over the past 4 years as Mr Yeo’s student, my math results have been improving and I've been doing more consistently in school. Mr Yeo’s passion towards teaching and ensuring that every student understood what he was saying really helped most of us in improving as we were taught to never just avoid problems. He made it a point to make sure we voice out our problems by consistently asking if we have questions and by getting us to do presentations to see where we went wrong. He understood each of our problems and emphasized on our weaker areas, ensuring at the end of the day, it isn't our weakness anymore. Being in his class, I learnt that math isn't just all about understanding key concepts and memorizing formulas but rather about practice. And where practice is concerned we need to put in a lot of effort, which is something he always emphasized on. He has also been a rather understanding and helpful teacher, making time to help us with math outside of lesson time if we miss lessons due to our own schedules. I'm not sure about the rest, but as for me, he never said no to any request for extra help! Mr Yeo’s lessons were also never boring too as there would always be jokes shared among the class and his liveliness most of the time kept us attentive. Apart from math, I, and I'm sure the rest of the class, have learnt much more from Mr Yeo. He taught us all to never just let a problem stay a problem and taught us to give our best in everything we do. He taught us to never look for easy ways out and to never expect success without hard work. He also taught us values such as respect for people around us, responsibility and integrity. If we were ever rude, late for lessons without a valid reason or if he ever found out we've been copying each other's homework, we would get a tongue-lashing! To me, Mr Yeo has done more than his job as a math tutor and I have learnt much more than mathematical knowledge from him. Although he may be harsh at times when his expectations aren't met, I believe it is because he wants the best for all of us. I truly feel thankful to have a tutor like Mr Yeo!
I joined RMSS in 2012 when I was in secondary one. It's been 4 years and I've learnt a lot from both my tutors, Mr Ng and Mr Lee. Before attending RMSS classes, I had no interests towards Mathematics. As I have always been a slower learner, Mr Ng wouldn't mind explaining a same concept to me over and over again. I'm really thankful to have him as one of my tutor as he has helped me greatly in building a strong foundation. Eventually, Mr Ng's patience helped me to attain distinctions.

Fast forward to 2014, I joined Mr Lee's class. I faced many challenges, and one of the hardest thing to overcome is to accept Mr Lee's teaching. He does not give solutions easily, in other words, he wants us to figure out the solutions on our own. Other than that, we had to present our answers to the whole class each time we were given questions to be completed as homework. At first, I was really afraid to present my answers, as I did not know how to do many questions. Through the presentations, I was "forced" to complete my homework properly and know my formulas well. Slowly, I gained confidence in speaking in front of the whole class and most importantly, I am not afraid to make mistakes. I often got scolded for not knowing my basics will, but I know he meant well for me. I may not be the smartest and the most hardworking student, but Mr Lee has never once given up on me. All the harsh words were a form of motivation for me to work even harder. It's been a tough time preparing for O levels, but Mr Lee never forget to make his classes interesting by sharing his personal experiences and also teaching us life skills.

All these skills and lessons that I've acquired have helped me in my daily life. On top of that, RMSS has a very conducive environment for their students to learn better and excel. I've always thought that one-to-one tuition classes were the one for me, but RMSS has changed the way I think of group tuition. It is way more effective and I could learn from my tuition mates as well. I appreciate all the help that both my tutors have given me all these years and I will always do my best. Thank you RMSS!
One thing that I will always remember in Mr Lee's would be how he would call us up to present our answers from the homework to the class. Being a lazy person, I would often 'choose' the questions from the homework which I knew how to do and not even try the questions which I didn't know how to do and I would then hope every lesson that I would be lucky enough to get called up for the questions that I had done.

The first few lessons passed with me avoiding being called for any questions that I had not even attempted. But alas, my lucky ran out in subsequent lessons when I was finally called for questions that I had left blank. The first time, he scolded me and made me stay back after class when he knew I had not even attempted the question. He told me frankly that I would definitely not improve without even trying the questions I didn't know.

Another time, he forced me to present my answers for a question, which I had not tried at all by making me think on the spot when I wrote the answers on the whiteboard. As I didn't know one of the math formulas, thus i could not complete the question. As I could not answer him when he asked me what's the math formula repeatedly, however, looking at me looking stumped, he asked a girl who was there for extra class to tell me the math formula. When she successfully told me the math formula, I felt amused on why Mr Lee didn't want me to just tell me the math formula himself. However, when he said 'Eh, Yu Yang, she is a Sec 2 and you're a Sec 4 leh!', that wiped the little amused smile that had formed on my face out of my face. Let's just say I felt really embarrassed when i returned to my seat.

I honestly hated having to present answers after that, but hoping to not lose so much face in subsequent lessons again, I decided to at least try the questions that I didn't know how to do. This is just how Mr Lee is, you can never cheat his system and slacken off, as he would find some way to force you to do your work.

Although I still dread having to do presentation, it has actually helped me a lot in my math, as I can better understand why a question should be done a specific way as I present to the class.
I have been with Mr Phua since July. My understandings of the topics have improved tremendously ever since then, just like the exponential graph. (LOL) Mr Phua’s explanation has made mathematics so much simpler than it seemed. Moreover, Mr Phua’s unique sense of humour has also made me look forward to attending his classes. This then brings me to my next point. Through Mr Phua’s unknown (mysterious) methods, he was able to make our class a very united one. Mr Phua has also made the mood and atmosphere in the class a very lively one. As students, we were able to communicate with one another freely and some of us have formed such close relationships that we even kept in contact after class through social medias such as through Skype and whatsapp. Together, we even planned the teachers’ day celebration, which turned out to be a successful one. We were able to ask Mr Phua any math-related questions without any fear. Yes, as expected, he will sometimes “humiliate” us, if we ask something really obvious. However, it is this that brings laughter to the class. But of course, he has his own principles and he ensures that we know when to not cross the line. Mr Phua is probably one of the most passionate teachers I have ever had. He gave us tons of extra lessons (>20, which were not charged), and even after he met with an accident, he still came for our lessons (of course, with bandages everywhere). For those that first joined Mr Phua’s class, you may think that this teacher is a very annoying, scary and evil one(or even crazy). But really, he has an extremely extremely sharp tongue, but on the inside, he is super duper softhearted. You may not notice it, but Mr Phua expresses his care for his students through little actions. Just take that accident as an example. Instead of telling us that he had an accident, he chose to tell us that he would no longer be able to conduct night classes for a short period of time. He did this so that we would not be worried about him, so that we would be able to concentrate on our revision. My overall experience with Mr Phua was really great, so great that I would choose to travel back in time just to attend his lessons again. I would definitely introduce my friends to join RMSS and especially Mr Phua’s class for Mathematics. Basically, if you are hopeless, Mr Phua is your light at the end of the tunnel. THANK YOU MR PHUA!!!
My 6 months journey in RMSS has taught me leaps and bounds. I have learnt not just Math from my teacher but also life skills essential for my journey ahead.

The intensive math lessons were not those kind of where the students mind-set was: "my parents force me one". Instead, "I can't wait for my next lesson!"

Mr Phua, my math tutor, is a very dedicated tutor and shows love and concern for his students. Not just did I learn math from him, but I’ve learnt so many other things from his invaluable years of teaching.

Whenever, I have a question, he will always be there for me, be it in class, before class or even after class.

Since joining RMSS, I have made significant progress in my math. At the End-of-year in Secondary 3, before joining RMSS, I had C5 for E math, and D7 for A Math. In my most recent prelim 2, I achieved a A1 for E math and B4 for my A math.

I would definitely introduce my classmates and friends who need help in their math to RMSS.

Thank You

Having failed AMath since the start of Secondary 3, it was a constant fear burgeoning in me during Secondary 4, as there was a high probability of me failing the subject at the O levels. I have had my own fair share of private tutors, for math, since the beginning of Secondary 1, but all of them deemed me as a hopeless case and gave up on me. It was only when I entered RMSS during Secondary 4 and had Mr Tham as a teacher before my grades started improving vastly. From a consistent D7 in AMath and being the last few in class, I eventually achieved B3 in AMath and A2 in EMath for my Prelims.

Patient and dedicated, Mr Tham would always explain the concepts and solutions in great details no matter how long it took and he never gave up on a student despite how slow their improvement progress might be. He taught with great vigor, in class, making sure all of us understood the concepts and rationale behind each step before moving on. The confidence he had in each and every student was heartwarming. Signing up for RMSS was extremely serendipitous, I am very thankful to have him as a tutor.
My daughter was barely passing her Combined Science (Physics / Chemistry) in 2014. Out of desperation, I enrolled her in RMSS Combined Science taught by Desmond Tham in Oct 2014. I can’t expect a miracle for her year-end 2014 results having enrolled with RMSS at such a late hour.

However she persevered and continued relentlessly on her weekly 2hrs tuition with Desmond Tham in 2015. She has told me that Desmond Tham has made it soooo easy for her to understand / remember both Physics and Chemistry with his simple and yet interesting explanations.

After a good 10 months with Desmond, she came in top in her class for her 2015 'O' Levels Physics Prelims. Chemistry is showing good sign of a possible A as well.

Anyhow in summary, I have absolutely no regrets enrolling her with RMSS as she now loves these subjects and is a happy and confident kid if she's ever required to discuss on these topics.

Thank you Desmond for all your hard work and dedication. How I wish more teachers are like you.

Deep appreciation.. from her mummy Germaine ;)
Hi Mr Ng
I can safely say that joining Mr Ng's Emath class in RMSS has to be one of the best decisions I've ever made in the course of my entire secondary school life. I must admit, I was definitely apprehensive of signing up for emaths tuition class because my maths was so weak that I was afraid the class would be too fast for my liking. Thankfully, Mr Ng never fails to guide us in various mathematical equations, on whichever we find challenging. He's also extremely patient and is always willing to wait until the whole class is able to comprehend fully before moving on, he makes sure to never leave any one behind. I still vividly remember entering his class for the first time and the first question he asked me was what my math results were on average and I replied with a monotonous "borderline fail".

I knew I wanted to change my results and my mindset of "I'm never a math kinda person". Through my 1 and a half years with Mr Ng and his guidance, I managed to attain a grade of A1 for my Emath preliminary examinations. It's amazing to look back at my journey in RMSS, and see how far I have gone. With that, I would like to say thank you Mr Ng, for your continuous help be it in regular class or extra classes when I was in dire need of help, to your funny jokes and humorous mannerism that keeps the class lively, to touring us around the NUS dorms and believing that we have the capability of being there one day. Most of all thank you because you taught me the most important lesson and that is as long as you work hard and have the right mindset, you can achieve anything you desire. As my secondary life is drawing to its end, I can say that I am certain I am able to conquer my emaths o level examination and this is because of Mr Ng. Thank you RMSS.
Hello Nic!
I have joined you since sec 2 mid. I must say it has been a pleasure and honour to be taught by you. It is always a joy to go for your lessons, as they are always so interesting, fun and hilarious. Thank you for rendering the sources and time to help me in my biology and chemistry (especially making us to memorize all your lame but very easy to remember acronyms for chemistry and always giving us extra info. on biology)
Thanks for helping me to love chemistry and biology.
Thank you for being a listening ear whenever I need someone to hear me out. Thanks for always helping me when I need help for these 2.5 years. Thanks for putting up with all my nonsense:))) As my journey with you comes to an end for now, all the best and stay sane and healthy:)))

Thank you Mr Ang for the past 3 years !! Thank you for always readily helping me with my chemistry, and spending extra time and effort to coach me after class! You made chemistry concepts easier to grasp through your analogies and stories! My understanding of chemistry has been strengthened because of the practices that you gave us! You would also motivate us to solve challenging questions by treating to us to drinks if we managed to solve them!! This made learning even more fun because there is a reward to look forward to! Your life stories also serve as an inspiration and you constantly encourage us to do even better that I feel apologetic to you whenever I fail to achieve good results. Thank you for being an understanding teacher, and allowing me to go for the afternoon class whenever I fail to wake up in time for the morning one! When I overworked myself in sec 3, you would always ask me to take a break and have ample rest! I admire how you don't put emphasis on results but instead; you make sure that we enjoy the process of learning. Your teaching also stimulates my analytical skills and this allows me to truly understand and like the subject. All the best Mr Ang!
I have been with Mr Ang since June. After attending his classes, I was able to better grasp the topics, especially those that I have never understood in school. His explanations were really straight to the point and his methods of approaching the questions were very useful. Mr Ang is one of the most passionate teachers that I have known. He does not just focus on teaching us the things we need to know, but also how to teach. He is so “ON” that he even went to an extreme of studying how our brain works, and how he should teach to benefit us. He is the one and only teacher I have ever known, that go to this “crazy” extent of doing researches on such things just for his students’ benefit. Mr Ang is not just a teacher that teaches chemistry, but also a mentor to us all. He is extremely approachable; we can literally approach him and ask him anything (legit anything). When lessons get dry, Mr Ang would tell us his life stories and lessons to be learnt. He would also share his experience with us, which I think is extremely important, as this is what we may be facing at some point of our lives. Mr Ang is a very open-minded teacher, which makes things really easy for us as students. To us, Mr Ang is also like our parent. When in doubt, he does not tell you what you should be doing, but guiding you through and giving you moral support. Of course, what he loves to say is “everything is fine, everything is fine” (HAHA) At that point of time you may think that everything is not fine, but afterwards, you would truly realize everything is really fine. I’m not sure if it is due to psychology effect, that repeating the same thing to one will make one think that way, but oh well, it worked. Mr Ang once said that the teachers that the teachers that he remembers and respects the most are not the ones that teach very well, but the ones that tell a lot of life stories. Unfortunately, to me, Mr Ang does not fit into his definition of teachers that I respect. Simple reason: Mr Ang not only teaches well, but is also a teacher that provides us with ample knowledge that cannot be learnt from textbooks. Basically when you find that all doors are closed, look for Mr Ang. He’ll be the one that opens a window for you…
Mr Quek is a patient teacher, who always answers all the seemingly endless questions in class just to make sure we understand our physics concepts better. He puts in a lot of effort on all his students.
Mr Quek is also a very caring teacher, who often checks on his students' academic results, regardless of the subject and always gives great advice for his students.
Mr Quek's lessons are interesting and engaging. His additional facts on the topics taught always allow us to better understand and apply our newfound knowledge
I am really thankful and blessed to have him as my physics tutor and would gladly recommend him to my juniors.
Mr Quek is a teacher who is not only very knowledgeable but also very friendly and approachable. He is able to simplify complex concepts to allow an easy understanding of it. More importantly, he is a very dedicated teacher that is willingly to go the extra mile for students should they require any help.
